Twenty One Pilots Book Tag

I don’t listen to Twenty One Pilots, but my dear friend Amalia @ The Opinionated Reader tagged me to do this, and it looks interesting! If you haven’t, go and check out her beautiful blog! She writes gorgeous reviews, and is one of the most interesting, kindest and positive bloggers I’ve met so far! 🙂 So here goes:

 

1. Stressed Out – What is a popular book that you have wanted to read for a long time that everyone has been talking about?

Everyone on Goodreads is raving about The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss for years, and I honestly can’t wait to start the series, but this is one of those well-known cases (Looking at you G.R.R. Martin) where the series isn’t done yet, and who knows when it will be, so maybe I’ll wait some more. 🙂

2. Car Radio – Name a book that contained issues you felt you connected to on a personal level 

Hmm I haven’t read a book like that yet! Maybe The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, even though I haven’t read it yet, I just watched the movie. I also had a highly dysfunctional family on some level, though not the same as Jeannette of course, but I could spot some significant similarities.

3. Ride – Name a book that you wanted to never end.

I never want a good book to end haha! I’ll choose Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo, because the ending wasn’t 100% satisfying for me, and because I wanted more of that amazing imaginary world.

4. Holding on to You – What is a book/series that you have loved since your childhood?

The Hobbit without any doubt. My mom gave it to me as a present when I was 11 and I still have the same copy, I treasure it and guard it and read it at least once every two years.

5. Tear in my Heart – Name a book that made you feel all the emotions.

Ugh that would be Tell the Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt. It’s a contemporary YA, which I rarely read, but this one I’ve read 3/4 times, as it’s one of those novels that are magical even though there’s no actual magic, and I feel very sad, but also very happy every time I read it.

6 .Fairly Local – What is your personal favorite underground book/series?

Hmm I’m not sure what exactly is underground in literature, especially series, which I haven’t read that many, so I’ll go with The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman. I’ve only read the first one and I loved it! I mean, librarian agents traveling to magical parallel worlds, in search of rare magical books, and in this first one we encounter: evil Fae, automatons, shape shifting dragons, alligators, zeppelins, whatnot haha! But it’s all well put together, and I’m listing it as underground as I haven’t seen many people reading it.

7. Ode to Sleep – Name a book that was full of twists and turns and kept you on the edge of your seat.

A Song of Ice and Fire series, because as soon as you think you figured it all out, you’re in for a surprise my friend. I spent one whole summer reading the series and I was constantly mouth-gaping, crying, throwing the book on the floor, smiling, etc. A roller-coaster that one.

 

8. Goner – What is a book character that you fell in love with from the beginning?

Kell, from A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab. First he got me with the opening line and his multi-sided magical coat, but then he was described as red-haired and I instantly visualized Domhnall Gleeson, whom I have a crush on ever since the Harry Potter movies, and About Time, and I was SOLD.

9. Migraine – What is one book that gave you a headache to read?

The Crow Garden by Alison Littlewood. It gave me not only the headache, but the biggest reading slump the mankind has ever witnessed, and it happened right before my week off for the New Year/Christmas holidays, which I took to READ, yes. You can read my rant here. There are some major spoilers, but you wouldn’t want to read this anyway.

10. We Don’t Believe What’s On TV – What is a book that you love that most people seem to hate?

I don’t think there is such book otherwise I’d hate it too haha. 🙂 I did notice many people hating the Outlander series because of the rape/abuse scenes, but that clearly suggest that they: 1. haven’t read it, or haven’t gone past the first book, and 2. that they know shit about history, and the way women were treated back then (whether you like it or not). I love this series and I don’t really care what people think.
