Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Awaken the Travel Bug In Me

Hello bookworms! Some of you noticed I didn’t do TTT last week, and that’s because I only ever DNFed one book ever, so not enough for a list hehe. 🙂 Now I’m back, and as traveling is one of my ultimate favorite things to do, I’m sure I’ll enjoy this week’s topic! Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl, and every Tuesday there is a different themed post of top 10 things.

 

1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Here she goes again.. I know, okay! But the Outlander series not only features one of my favorite places in the world (Scotland), but also – time travel. I’m a huge fantasy lover, so you could have expected extraordinary kind of traveling. 🙂

2. The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne Valente

I don’t know if this is cheating, because I’m currently reading it, but I’m so immersed and in love with this fantastical novel! Again, traveling to fantastical places with all sorts of oddities is something you can expect me to dream of.

3. Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett

 

I know I’ve mentioned this one a thousand times too, but a hilarious novel about three tourist witches is just the thing that makes me crave traveling!

4. The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman

Again with the unorthodox traveling methods, but this amazing book features traveling to different, magical realities, and it involves books! I want to be a magical librarian so much.

5. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Now, there are two reasons I picked this novel for this post. First, it’s set in Wales, which I badly want to visit, and second – traveling through time-loops. Yes, please.

6. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

Traveling through parallel versions of my city would be awesome! This trilogy features four parallel Londons, and as much as I’d love to visit the real one, the imaginary ones sound great! I wonder how would my city look like in different versions, even the black one *shivers*.

7. Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

I bet some of you expected this to happen, but Alice in Wonderland is my favorite children’s book, and I always get a sense of wanderlust while reading it. 🙂

8. West of the Moon by Margi Preus

Not only is this great book set in Norway, which I’d like to visit very much, but it’s also about an adventure of sorts, and adventuring makes me travel-needy!

9. The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton

While I’d rather steer away from the 17th century Netherlands, I adore the modern one, and it’s one of my favorite places in the world, with the most beautiful scenery and food (cheeseeeee). Can’t wait to go back!

10. Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne

I was deep in thought about this topic at one point, and I was wondering how I’ve never read a book that features traveling around the world. But then I remembered I did! I loved this classic when I was a kid, and I’m seriously contemplating a re-read.
