Round Up

August Round-up

Hmm, it seems as though I’ve done one of these round-ups only two weeks ago, time flies eh? Well, not much happened in August, I can tell you that. I went to one party, one festival, went to the beach, and booked my summer vacation. Actually, in my life this is quite a lot. Other than that, my boyfriend has been working away for almost the entire month, so I finally got some time for myself, watching Harry Potter marathon and quietly sobbing while holding and sniffing my bf’s t-shirt. *crickets*

What I’ve Read in August + September TBR

I haven’t read much in August (The story of my life.), but what I did was very good. Quality over quantity, right? I had two buddy reads scheduled, one of which ended tragically (I’m looking at you Gerry πŸ˜› ), and I didn’t have time to start the other one with Kara, but I will soon! I’ve read three books in August: And the Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness (Review coming soon), Uprooted by Naomi NovikΒ (Review coming soon), and I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara (Review here).

I’m halfway through with The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell, and I’ll start my buddy read of Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill with Kara soon. After that I don’t have any solid plans because I’ll be on vacation, but I’m bringing 3 paperbacks with me: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There by Catherynne M. Valente, and The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss. And my kindle of course πŸ˜›

August wasn’t that eventful in TV section for me, except Castle Rock, which I’m religiously following and watching every episode twice. Except episode 7, The Queen, which rubbed so many onions directly onto my eyeballs and then added a pinch of salt for good measure, which was totally unexpected for a mystery/horror show. Other than that, I’m patiently awaiting season 13 of one of my favorite shows – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Anyone here following Sunny? It’s not the kind of humor everyone likes, so it’s either love or hate with this one, and I’m a die-hard fan.

In the movie section not much happened because of my sobfest Harry Potter marathon, but I did manage to watch: Gerald’s Game, which was quite disturbing but I liked it, My rating on IMDB: 7/10. Then Trainspotting 2 and the first part re-watch with my mom, which she requested but then regretted quite fast haha. We both decided T2 more than lived up to the expectations. Our rating on IMDB: 8/10.

Also, I enrolled in a fun movie challenge! It’s The Letterboxd Season Challenge where I’ll watch one movie per week for 33 weeks, each corresponding to a certain theme, so it’s a great opportunity to watch some movies you’ve been delaying for too long, but also some movies you’d never have watched were it not for this challenge and its weird prompts. You can see my (not quite finished) list here, and if any of you decide to participate – show me your lists, I’m quite excited! πŸ™‚

As I said, I went to one party this month, and it was the annual Brazil days fest here in Novi Sad, bringing some cool Brazilian musicians and samba dancers each year. Once again, I used this opportunity to show off my weird dance moves, get wasted on Caipirinha, and try and find someone to speak Portuguese to (failed this one). Me and my boyfriend went to a cool jungle drum & bass party, and then to a psychedelic trance party, because he likes that, but I got drunk and had fun too.

Then later in August I went to see my best friend in Belgrade for her birthday, and we used the opportunity to visit the annual Beer Fest, where my bf was working. The festival isn’t anything special, all bands are mainly local, but you can try a gazillion different beers there, so that’s fun, I love beer. We also went to the local beach and had some fun and sun.

That’s my sorry ass in the middle.

Other than that, I booked my summer vacation on Kassandra in Greece, me and my bf are going this Saturday, so I may be slow on answering the comments because I’ll be on the beach, sunbathing my pale ass. πŸ˜› You can expect some pictures once we get back (None of my ass, sorry). Any of you going to a late vacation, and where? I’d love to hear from you guys, let me know, and have a great September! πŸ™‚

My pictures won’t be this pretty.

  1. Oh I love every book by Gillian Flynn! I’m not sure it’s a beach read though, not so happy 😝 Silent Companions is on my wishlist too.. I had it in my hands and I didn’t buy it 😫. I was hesitating between Krete and Kos but I’m going to Kos in 2 weeks 😊 Happy holidays already !

    1. Hehe good to hear, I’m sure I’ll love this one, though I want to read all the books she wrote. πŸ™‚ Gone Girl was and still is one of my favorite movies. πŸ™‚ Hahaha I know, but I want to read it asap because of the mini series, so the beach will have to do. πŸ˜€

The Silent Companions is awesome so far, I’ll post my review soon, hopefully. πŸ™‚

Woohoo, we’ll be “only” 14h away from each other, I’ll wave you from my peninsula! πŸ˜€ P.S. Next time, try and go to Skiathos island, it’s gorgeous, we should have gone there but they ran out of affordable rooms. :/ Thank you and you have fun on your holiday too, make sure to snap some photos! πŸ™‚

  2. I did fail tragically there didn’t I? *sobs quietly* I’m going to send you a Goodreads message though because I’m not going to post about it until you’re done and I’m totally still up for getting your thoughts on it! It’s saveable!

Also, are you a red head now?! I swear you were blonde… Am I going crazy?!

    1. Noo, I was kidding haha, though it could have gone better, we’ll try again! πŸ˜€ I hope I’ll manage to finish it in 2/3 days, so I’ll let you know what I think once I’m done! πŸ™‚

Haha noo, I was never blonde in my entire life, except when I was bleaching out of black. πŸ™‚ I’m a fake and proud ginger since 2010. πŸ˜€ Time for some changes I guess, though I’m afraid of changes. :S

      1. Went to Corfu ❀
Two years ago I went to Rodos and the lady who ran the hotel added me on facebook, so i can see she's posting pictures in October with people in the pool. So the weather is quite consistent there i must say πŸ˜€

  5. You have the beeest festivals there!!! All we get here is really bad musicπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ which is the reason why I never go to any festival here. Hope you have a great vacation, I’ve always wanted to go to Greece (If I’m being honest then I’ve always wanted to go to Europe in generalπŸ˜‚)

    1. Hahaha not nearly as USA, UK and Germany, but good enough to keep us entertained. πŸ˜€ Aww, too bad, I hope that you can listen some good music at home at least. πŸ™‚ Thank you! Me too, this is my first time going there, hope it’s awesome. πŸ™‚ Hehe I hope you get to visit Europe, any part, each country is quite unique. πŸ™‚ I’d like a trip across the ocean too, but I don’t think that will ever happen. 😦
