Hello dear people! All of you know I’ve been gone for a long while, and I can’t say it enough – I’m terribly sorry for that, but anxiety just took a big toll on my daily life and habits. I won’t whine, quite the opposite – I firmly decided I want to live and enjoy my life much much more. I’m in the early stages of starting a business of my own, I want to get back to the hobbies I let wilt and die – drawing and origami (And reading, let’s be real.), and of course blogging. But, you may ask, what I’ve been up to these couple of months, since I apparently wasn’t doing anything? Well… stuff?
I bought/was gifted some gorgeous books:
I met Katherine Arden and got my books signed!
This was a small event in my town, Novi Sad, but Katherine went to our capital, Belgrade too. This NEVER ever happens in Serbia, and I’m so incredibly lucky to have attended this, and I was almost late because I had a nap OMG. I had all 3 books so I brought them with me, my boyfriend came too, as a support much needed because my anxiety was over the roof. While I waited in line to have my books signed I was spiraling out, forgetting not only English, but how to speak words in general. BUT! When it was my turn – and take note I had to sit with Katherine in the spotlight in front of what felt like a million people – I couldn’t bloody shut up! Katherine is SO nice and friendly! We shook hands and met, I sat with her and we started to chat. We talked about her books, YA and fantasy in general, how this is a rare event in Serbia, but that it can prove to other authors they can come here, she told me about her European tour and she loved my Slytherin tote!!! I also casually mentioned my blog mhmhmhm and..the rest is a blur. I know we chatted about 5-10 minutes and laughed a lot but I was so nervous you guys. Hopefully another fantasy/YA author comes to Serbia again, and next time I’ll keep it together, promise. I will treasure this moment forever.
I gave a lot of pets and belly-rubs, and was in turn bitten and scratched quite a lot (Totally worth it.)
I got hooked on podcasts!
I’ve always been obsessed with true crime as many of you know, but so far my sources were documentaries, wikis and reddit threads, and then I discovered podcasts! The first one I stumbled upon was Crime Junkie and I was instantly hooked! It’s a true crime podcast hosted by two girls who are bffs and who love dogs! So each month there’s a dog segment too! I enjoy the crime more though, lol. They do this show in a respectful way and present a missing/murdered/serial killer case every Monday, but they often joke around (with taste), so that makes it easier to listen lol. I listened to every single episode and am currently considering becoming a patreon so I can get access to even more episodes, I need more!
The other podcast I’m hooked on is called Lore. I already knew about it because I’ve watched the TV series based off of it, which was okay, not amazing, and because there are three books based on this too. I think the podcast is the best, honestly. Each episode features amazing and eerie music, the host does his job well, even if I don’t really like his voice, and the stories are super creepy and informative. It’s all about weird, dark and unexplained things that happened in history, or which people have believed in centuries ago (Some do now too.), about real people or events shrouded in mystery or darkness and mostly about folklore. You can listen about the true origins of belief in Vampires (My country is featured here!), Witches and Wendigos, about people like H.H. Holmes, Elizabeth Bathory and Marie Laveau, about the Pied Piper, Changelings, Hidden Folk and Jersey Devil. Do you like mysterious, dark and unexplained? Lore has you covered!
I was horribly disappointed
I chopped half of my hair.
I won a Barnes & Noble gift card giveaway!
And that’s about it, sadly.
Now, on to actually doing instead of procrastinating. One method I’ve come across which helps me read more is buddy reading! I’m currently doing a buddy read of Pet Sematary with Kara @ Bernard’s Book Blog and I think it’s going well! But I’d love to do more! These are some of the books I’m interested in reading in the next couple of months, so if anyone would like to buddy read one of these with me – please let me know!
Also, my friend Hana @ Lady Bibliotaph has come up with a great idea for blog boosting, which we’ll do tomorrow. We’ll do guest posts on each other’s blogs by interviewing each other! Questions will mostly revolve around reading and books, and once that is up, you guys can check it out and let me know if anyone wants to do that with me? It should be fun!
Now that I’ve covered my plans for better reading and blogging in the future it’s time to resolve my last weak point – communication. I have trouble with that in real life too, and as a result I’ve ended up with just a few good friends (Which can also be a good thing, right?), but I’m terrible at keeping in touch. What’s even worse is when your friends live on the other side of the globe. In comes social media! So, if anyone wants to talk, chat, discuss books, video games, cats or anxiety, or even just send pizza emojis, you can reach me on any of these networks:
I am always online. Or sleeping. So feel free to add me and let’s hang out sometimes!
