Top Ten Tuesday: Book Characters I’d Love to Be Besties With

Happy Tuesday dear readers! What are you guys up to this week? One of my two bff’s has her birthday on the 15th, so this weekend I’ll be visiting her in Belgrade to hang out and have some fun! Hopefully you and your besties are having a great summer as well! Now, I already have two best friends, and as hard as it would be to replace them in real life, I did find them some adequate fictional replacements. Just don’t tell them. 🤫 🤭

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl, and every Tuesday there is a different themed post of top 10 things. Here are mine:

1. Lyra Belacqua (His Dark Materials)

I’ve said it over and over again that Lyra is my favorite literary character ever, I even named my cat after her! She’s a sassy, independent little rascal who fights for herself and the ones she loves, and she has a talent for making things up, so I’m thinking we’d have some amazing adventures together.

2. September (Fairyland)

Another little rascal, September values friendship above all, but when she has to fight or flight, she’ll always do what is right. We would have some wicked adventures, and I’d help her fight her enemies.

3. Merricat (We Have Always Lived in the Castle)

Ummm.. well I really love Merricat, regardless of everything. She’s a really special person I’d love to have as a friend, if she’d let me in that is. I think I’d know how to handle her, after all – we share a love of cats, buried treasure and magical words. Murder too, but in significantly different manner.

4. Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)

Luna is my favorite human character from Harry Potter, and she’s the most similar to me. I can be Loony too sometimes, but what matters is that she’s smart, creative, loyal and unique, and I think we would read, draw, and daydream together. I believe we would have a quirky book club too.

5. Lady Jane Grey (My Lady Jane)

If you’re wondering when I’ll shut up about Jane, the answer is never ever ever ever. Jane is my soulmate, as I already mentioned a thousand times before, and I’d love to just sit with hear, sip hot cocoa and read. Though I’d have to get her to read more fiction, definitely.

6. Bilbo Baggins (The Hobbit)

I definitely appreciate Bilbo’s lifestyle, both in and out of adventuring. We would totally eat seven times a day, and smoke Old Toby after, and maybe throw in a riddle or two. And then we’d eat again.

7. Nanny Ogg (Discworld – Witches)

Nanny is very old and promiscuous, true, but other than that we have so much in common we’d have a blast for sure. We would smoke, drink some bananana cocktails, and while she would sing the Hedgehog song, I’d run around making sure Greebo doesn’t molest my cat. Not such a good idea, but it would sure be fun.

8. Lila Bard (A Darker Shade of Magic)

Me and Lila would go adventuring on her ship all the time. I like the idea of being a lady pirate, but I also love Lila, who’s independent, determined, and a good friend. I would have to talk to her about pick-pocketing though.

9. Bridget Jones (Bridget Jones Diaries)

Bridget is my spirit animal. My life is also a mess 24/7, so I could use some advice from her self-help books. I think I’d become a huge obstacle on her way to quit smoking and lose weight, but I don’t think she’d mind that much. We would lounge, eat and read for days, and I’d give her a couple of tips on how to not drive Mark insane.

10. Nancy Drew (Nancy Drew Mysteries)

Nancy is my idol. It would be kind of awkward hanging out and working with her since I adore her so much and she’s so fiercely independent, but I’d do my best to be her loyal and helpful sidekick! We would solve mysteries and catch all the bad guys!

So, you might have noticed my list mostly consists of little girls and mentally unstable women, all topped with a desperate singleton and a Hobbit. Ahem. I choose my friends wisely. Who would you be besties with? Tell me all about it in the comments! 🙂

  1. I would love to be friends with Luna Lovegood! She sounds like she would be a good listener, a great person to talk to, and an overall nice friend. And it would be so interesting to be friends with Nancy Drew! I could just imagine getting into a lot of dangerous adventures with her! 🙂 Great list!
