Round Up

April Round-up

Hello dear readers! This is probably the first time since I started blogging that I know most of you have spent the past month same as me. We’ve all been quarantined, and while for some of you this “vacation time” may have come as an opportunity to catch up on reading, TV shows and other hobbies, most of us are actually too anxious for anything other than to worry and stare at a wall. And worrying = no concentration. Ugh. It’s been really hard to keep up with reading but nevertheless I’ve managed to finish a couple of novels and some comics. I’ve activated my 30 free days on Scribd so now I can listen to audio books too yay!

What I’ve Read in April:

The Daughters of Ys by M.T. Anderson, Jo Rioux  4.5/5 Review here  ARC

The Muse by Zidrou, Oriol  4/5 Review here  ARC

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn  5/5 Review here

Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker, Wendy Xu  3/5 Review here  ARC

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn  5/5 Review coming soon

Sword of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski  4/5 Review coming soon

Jingo by Terry Pratchett  4/5

Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco  2/5 Review coming soon ARC

What will I read in May:

As I don’t do TBR’s anymore, I’ll just list some books I recently bought, or some I just really want to/have to read, and maybe I’ll read some of these in May. If you’re interested in a buddy-read for one of these, let me know! 🙂

The Glass Woman by Caroline Lea  ARC

The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman

24 Hours in Ancient Athens by Philip Matyszak

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

Where the Veil is Thin by Alana Joli Abbott  ARC

Burn by Patrick Ness  ARC

Five Sisters by Stephanie Campisi  ARC

The Princess Bride by William Goldman

Even though I’ve been closed in, I didn’t do much binging in April. The new seasons of Outlander, What We Do in the Shadows and Better Call Saul are excellent, so that kept me occupied for a bit. I’ve also started watching The Letter for the King, which is based on the book of the same name by Tonke Dragt, which I’ve wanted to read for a while now. I also watched the first season of I Am Not Okay with This, which is pretty interesting.

The thing that occupied most of my time though was Tiger King. Guys, did you watch it?? Do you think Carole killed her husband? Do you hate all the zoo owners with a burning passion? Did you laugh-cry at Joe Exotic’s music videos? Are you repulsed, entertained and amazed all at the same time as I am? I wasn’t aware people like these existed in real life!

I’ve been working on my “hobbies” recently, but I haven’t got anything decent to show, maybe next month. I’ve been drawing a lot, crocheting some, and I’ve planted some flowers and herbs. I’ve been infamously known as a plant killer, though let’s be honest, my cat killed some specimens, not me, but my current plants will need a dose of prayer other than sun and water to survive. I’ll maybe make an Instagram account for my drawings soon, I’ll announce that on my main, bookstagram account if you’re interested. I’ve also been trying out some recipes and cooking a lot, and I started exercising though we shall not talk about that yet. xD

What have you guys been up to in April? What have you watched and read? Have you started or restarted some hobbies? Talk to me in comments and have a wonderful May! ❤

  1. I really need to get round to watching the series of What We Do in the Shadows because I watched the movie last year and just couldn’t breath at points for laughing! I still walk around putting on a dodgy NZ accent going ‘we’re werewolves, not swearwolves!’

  2. Omg, I just started watching What We Do in the Shadows and it’s so great, haha! Looking forward to your drawings and crocheted creations. Sometimes I want to work with polymer clay again, but then I remember how stressful and time-consuming it is, lol.

    1. Isn’t it the best?! Have you watched the episode with the cursed witch skin hat? xD

Actually I created an Instagram page for the drawings, it’s @mallodora_grymm_art if you want to follow. 🙂 Crocheting is going slower, but I’m getting there. xD Ooh polymer clay is awesome! I realized that each hobby is stressful and time consuming, but if you love it then persevere! 😂

      1. Not yet, but I’ll probably love it!

Oh gosh, your art is so charming! I adore it so much. 💖 Yeah, I really only enjoy writing, so I guess I’ll just stick with that, haha.
